Group Therapy: KidsShare and TeenShare
The vision of theGroup Therapy Program is to offer a safe and structured group environment to learn and practice the skills to:
- Improve and manage their symptoms of mental illness including anger, depression and anxiety
- Increase communication skills
- Manage conflict and anger
- Increase positive peer interaction and creative problem solving skills
Group Therapy is supervised by a licensed Mental Health Therapist, Laura Healless, LISW, who also provides individual therapy as needed. Each child receives an individualized treatment plan with goals based upon their specific needs and strengths. Groups provide fun activities to keep the children engaged in the therapy process.
Group Therapy is an after-school service held from 4:00-5:00 p.m. during the school year and 3:00-4:00 p.m. in the summer months. Children attend one to three times a week. When needed, transportation is provided to and from group therapy. We offer multiple groups based on the child’s age (KidsShare and TeenShare), mental illness, and developmental level. Children eligible to attend group are those diagnosed with any mental illness. Medicaid and most major insurance providers are accepted.
